This qualification has been designed to raise awareness of key food safety issues and to provide employees with an induction to food hygiene.
This qualification is well suited to individuals handling low risk or wrapped foods (category A), including:
- new employees with minimal or no prior food safety knowledge

This qualifications have been developed to raise awareness of key food safety issues and to provide employees with an induction to food hygiene, prior to undertaking the Foundation Awards in Food Safety.
Anyone working in a catering setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled.

Status:On completion, candidates are eligible to take the examination for CIEH and Ofqual accreditation.
Course Duration: 1 day.
Venue: The course can be delivered at the customer's venue subject to the availability of a suitable area.< /br> Requalification requirements: It is recommended that training is refreshed every 3 years.
This qualification is designed to educate Learners in Food Safety. It includes how individuals have a personal responsibility for food safety, the importance of personal hygiene, keeping work areas clean and tidy and keeping food safe.
The aim of the qualification is to enable Learners to develop their food safety awareness. It helps the Learner build an understanding of the importance of keeping foods safe and safe food handling practices so that they are able to supply food which is safe to consume.
The qualification is designed for anyone who handles food, or plans to handle food, in the catering industry. It would also be beneficial for people who come into contact, due to the nature of their work, with food handling areas (e.g. pest control officers and delivery personnel).
The assessment for QA Foundation Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF) qualification is a 30 multiple choice question paper, combined with formative assessment throughout the course by the Trainer.
Employers are legally responsible for providing health and safety training to their employees (for supervising, training, or instructing employees) as appropriately required for their work duties.
This qualification provides a great starting point from which more detailed health and safety and/ or food safety training (e.g. CIEH Foundation Awards) can follow.
Anyone entering the workplace for the first time – either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment – and those starting a new job (as part of an induction programme) in food premises.
